Q: Do laser treatments hurt?
A: The amount of discomfort depends on the type of treatment, the individual and the area being treated. Most people say it feels like someone lightly snapping a rubber band on their skin. A topical anesthetic may be used for the few treatments that are known to be uncomfortable, such as some tattoo removals.

Q: Does laser hair removal get rid of all hair permanently?
A: Laser hair removal will permanently remove all hair currently growing. Because everyone has a genetically determined amount of hair follicles that will grow over their lifetime, nothing can completely stop all future hair growth. The small amount of re-growth can easily be removed by occasional follow up treatments.

Q: How many treatments are required?
A: The number of treatments required depends on what you are having done and how extensive the symptom is. A few examples:

Laser Hair Removal – About 5 sessions at 6 week intervals
PhotoFacial – 3 – 5 sessions, several weeks apart
Tattoo Removal – Three or more sessions, several weeks apart

Q: Are there risks with laser treatment?
A: There are risks with any medical treatment. The side effects from laser treatment vary with by procedure, but generally involve redness and swelling in the treated area for a few minutes to a few days. For vein treatments, veins will turn blackish before being absorbed by the body. Brown spots may look like someone put coffee grinds on them before fading.
